O de hoje \u00e9\u00a0\u00a0o\u00a0ingl\u00eas\u00a0<\/em><strong>Steve Dowling<\/strong><em>\u00a0(1904-1981)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Em 24 de julho de 1943, no <em>Daily Mirror <\/em>londrino, iniciava-se a publica\u00e7\u00e3o de <em>Garth<\/em>, uma tira di\u00e1ria de aventuras que se transformou na mais famosa e duradora produzida na Inglaterra nos \u00faltimos setenta anos. Seu desenhista era Stephen P. Dowling, que desde 1931 trabalhava para o <em>Daily Mirror<\/em>, junto com seu irm\u00e3o Frank. J\u00e1 tinha feito tiras de humor, como <em>Tich <\/em>e <em>Ruggles<\/em>. Com <em>Garth<\/em>, Steve Dowling conquistou por completo os leitores. O personagem, um homem loiro de grande for\u00e7a f\u00edsica, acompanhado quase sempre por um s\u00e1bio franzino, chamado Lumi\u00e8re, vivia as suas aventuras em mundos que variavam do real (Oriente, Egito) at\u00e9 o sobrenatural. Com o passar do tempo, Garth foi adquirindo poderes de viajar tanto ao passado quanto ao futuro.
